The Hiteshew family began forestry operations on its own land in the 1930’s with a home-made sawmill selling rough lumber, mine props (posts) and brokering other mills’ lumber as well. Through the years the family has operated a lumber planing mill, a home building and remodeling company, a swimming pool shop, and also operated a sawmill to compliment the other ventures. The tree-oriented family has sold firewood since 1975 and continues to broker sawlogs, lumber, and other woods goods. Brent Hiteshew is a member of WOSA, a local woodland owner's group; and in 2008 became a member of Pennsylvania Forest Stewards PaFS.
